What are they REALLY asking for at the job interview

If you’ve made it as far as the job interview you are interesting to the company. It all comes down to personal chemistry and proving your worth.

Are you a person that will fit this company?
The company interviewer will probably ask questions about your person. The reason for this is to find out how you will fit the company and the role you applied for.
Common Questions are:  What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are your goals and how will you achieve them? What motivates you?

The interviewer will also want to verify that the things you write in your resume are correct and valuable. Make sure you can give a positive description from every experience.
Common questions are: What did you like most and least about your last job? Do you prefer working independently or as part of a team? What prevented you from advancing in your former positions?

Your personal plans for the future are relevant for the future employer. Some not so pleasant questions might come up. Make sure you are prepared and give the impression that this job is the most important to you now.
Common questions are: Are you willing to work weekends to get the job done? Why should we hire you? What other jobs have you applied for? What were you paid at your last job?

Your personality is sometimes measured by a written test, but sometimes it is weaved into the interview. It’s a way for the interviewer to get a more accurate picture of how you behave when working. It is measured against the company work culture.
Common questions are: Tell med about a time when a project went well. Tell med about a time when you showed dedication to your work. Have you ever missed a deadline or been close to missing it? What actions did to take to counter the failure?

Finally, don’t be a superman. Focus on the good stuff but admit that you have weaknesses and where you have failed if they ask you. It shows that you are honest, which is the most important quality to an employer.
